Branch Program

Our  program , Immigration 101, will be held at 11:30 on Friday, September 27,  in the Fisher Room of the Pittsford Community Library. The meeting will begin with a munch and-chat time. Feel  free to bring a brown bag lunch. A dessert of finger foods and refreshments will be provided. This meeting is free and open to the public. Friends and interested potential members are most welcome!

Speaking will be U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Community Relations Officer Janice M. Owen. She is from the Department of Homeland Security and USCIS office in Buffalo. Ms. Owen will speak to us about the basics of citizenship and the immigration policies that currently exist.

“Immigration 101 will familiarize the audience with the components of the Department of Homeland Security, with the USCIS mission within the Department, and with the Buffalo District of USCIS. In light of the AAUW’s overall mission and public platform, which contains specific language opposing human trafficking, this talk will highlight USCIS programs to include T/ U/ VAWA visas, Special Immigrant Juveniles, and other humanitarian efforts”.
