Nancy Shadd will host the book group gathering on Monday, February 24th at 3:00 p.m. at her home.
The book selection is a novel called White Houses by Amy Bloom. It is available in paperback or electronically. It is about Lorena Hickok, Eleanor Roosevelt, and FDR. Hickok is originally from South Dakota and the book chronicles her journey from there to the White House during FDR’s presidency, to Hyde Park, and to Manhattan as she develops as a “first friend” to Eleanor and Franklin. Her official job during the Roosevelt administration was to promote the president and first lady. This novel delves into relationships and administration. Sounds like a good read!
