Branch Program

Join us on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in room 212 at the Perinton Community Center, 1350 Turk Hill Road in Fairport to hear from two women who have collaborated on a book following their work with a cohort of first-wave baby boomers to determine lessons and patterns in career choices and retirement plans. The book was published in 2017 and is Thriving in Retirement: Lessons from Baby Boomer Women

Authors Anne Coon and Judy Feuerherm will provide us with their process and the product of their work with a focus group of 25 women born between 1946 and 1956. How were they different from their mothers and fathers in choosing education and career paths? What experiences impacted their choices as they progressed in their work lives and what were their responses to change? What experiences did they have in common and what were the stories that evolved for each individual and as a group? What commonalities will you be able to establish with them?

Dr. Anne Coon earned a PhD in English Literature from The State University at Buffalo, taught at RIT for 28 years, and retired as Professor of English and Senior Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts. She holds the rank of professor emeritus at RIT.

Judy Feuerherm earned an MA in Journalism from Temple University and a BFA from Empire State College (SUNY). Her career spans 40 years in diverse experience. She recently worked as Practice Leader for the Northeast US career management services of Right Management leading a team of consultants in coaching services.

Join us on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. in room 212 at the Perinton Community Center, 1350 Turk Hill Road in Fairport to hear Dr. Coon and Ms. Feuerherm discuss their work on the book. They will bring along copies of the book which will be available for purchase at the special price of $20 for this event. Please provide payment of the book by cash or check only.
